Taiwan is on the forefront of the Innocence Movement in Asia. One of the leading organizations is the Taiwan Innocence Project (TIP) which was founded in 2012 to address the issue of wrongful conviction in Taiwan. The organization provides pro bono legal services for the wrongfully convicted, works to redress the causes of wrongful convictions, and supports the exonerated after they are proven innocent. They also urge for reform in the criminal justice system and seek institutional changes to prevent innocent people from entering a flawed legal process in the first place. Taiwan Innocence Project & USALI

Representatives from TIP have been supporters of our Wrongful Convictions Program. They have chronicled their experiences with USALI through various publications, including: “West 4th Street Diaries,” (2017) and A Canary in a Coal Mine” (2019).
