We mourn the passing of NYU Law Professor S. Andrew Schaffer, a valued friend of the U.S.-Asia Law Institute. Andy provided sage advice to USALI in its criminal justice programs. He traveled to China with us to provide expertise on preventing police torture during interrogation. Andy also assisted USALI in accessing experts at the NYPD on various criminal justice issues, and he always made himself available to assist us and our visiting experts from Asia. We will miss Andy, his ever-present warm smile, and his unwavering support. We join his friends and family in mourning his loss.
