Cross-Strait Relations (Past Project)

Lead by Faculty Director Jerome A. Cohen and Affiliated Scholar Yu-Jie Chen, the Cross-Strait Relations project began in July 2015 in an effort to offer insights and commentary on the relationship between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of China. One focus of their research is the contention over the “92 Consensus” and Beijing’s unilateral decision to suspend major aspects of the cross-strait agreements that it concluded with Taipei from 2009 to 2015.  This research should help establish a more precise scholarly and popular understanding and assessment of the respective positions of China and Taiwan.
